Nicam gel (nicotinamide)

How does it work?

Nicam gel contains the active ingredient nicotinamide, which is a form of vitamin B3.

Nicotinamide has an anti-inflammatory effect when applied to the skin, which helps to reduce the inflammation and redness of inflammatory acne.

The gel should be applied to the affected area of skin twice daily, after washing the skin thoroughly with warm water and soap and gently drying it.

It can take several weeks for the beneficial effects to appear, so it is important to persevere with treatment.

What is it used for?

Mild to moderate inflammatory acne.

Warning!

This medicine is for external use only.

Avoid getting the gel in contact with eyes and the inside of the mouth and nose.

If your skin becomes excessively dry or irritated or starts peeling you should use the gel less frequently.

Not to be used in

Allergy to any ingredient.

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

Although this medicine is not expected to have any harmful effects if used during pregnancy, this has not been specifically studied. As with all medicines, you should check with your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, particularly during the first trimester.
