How can this medicine affect other medicines?

Nicardipine increases the effect of medicines used to lower blood pressure. When first taken with other blood pressure lowering medication it may cause a large drop in blood pressure and therefore dizziness. The combination of nicardipine and a beta-blocker such as propranolol, may cause a severe drop in blood pressure and heart failure. Rifampicin may increase the removal of nicardipine from the body, making it less effective. This medicines effects may be reduced by anti-epileptics such as carbamazapine, phenytoin, phenobarbitol and primidone. This medicine may increase blood levels of digoxin. This medicine increases blood levels of cyclosporin.
