Aldomet

How does it work?

Aldomet tablets contain the active ingredient methyldopa, which is a type of medicine known as a centrally acting antihypertensive. (NB. Methyldopa is also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.)

Methyldopa works by stimulating alpha receptors in the brain. This causes the brain to send nerve signals to the blood vessels, making them relax and widen. The result of this is a lowering of blood pressure.
