The Wellness Clinic in Chelmsford claims that Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment can help a range of conditions including flatulence, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bloating, halitosis (bad breath), constipation, lethargy and diarrhea. We popped along to the clinic to experience a colonic treatment and find out more.
Jayne Harlock, founder of the Wellness Clinic, has had over 15 years experience of performing colonic treatments and recommends this as the way forward to aiding good health.
Jayne claims that Colonic treatment invigorates and revitalises the body, providing a thorough tissue cleansing process. Three to four treatments detoxifies, cleanses and improves constipation and IBS, whilst improving the tone of the colon.
The treatment
I'd never experienced a Colonic treatment before and was slightly apprehensive to say the least. Many concerns sprung to mind along the lines of; will it hurt? What about hygiene? Will I do something really embarrassing that no practitioner has seen before? On entering the clinic I was met by the fresh faced and incredibly radiant Jayne who instantly put my mind at rest. On asking how popular the treatment at the clinic was, Jayne answered convincingly "incredibly popular" and went on to inform me she'd had dozens herself!
On learning that we have around 11 feet of intestine Jayne informed me that on the first session of Colonic Hydrotherapy we'd be concentrating on the large bowel that harbors around five foot.
Once I'd been briefed and suitably educated on my colon and what it should and shouldn't be doing, I then prepared for my treatment. Surprisingly, I kept more modesty then I expected. I didn't need to worry about hygiene at all! The treatment room and practice is immaculately spotless and the pre-sterilized disposable hose eliminated my concerns of contamination from prior use of the colonic machine.
The insertion of the tube is painless. You might feel yourself jumping a tiny bit with surprise, but that's as bad as it gets. Throughout the whole of the treatment Jayne made me feel as comfortable as you can with a hose stuck up your bum and explained the whole process of what was happening with the machine and my colon at that time. Throughout the treatment Jayne massages your stomach to allow the water to get around the bends of your colon to ensure a thorough 'flush-out'.Not everyone is the same and the amount of waste you relieve is dependent on many things. Some people (in my case) lose more on the loo immediately after the treatment. Others lose a lot and some don't lose too much at all, but when they come back for there 2nd or 3rd top up appointment - that's when all poo breaks loose.
The treatment took just an hour including consultation, however you are recommended to top this up with three to four treatments after to detoxify, cleanse and improve constipation and irritable bowl syndrome.
If you're thinking about experiencing the treatment for yourself, make sure you find a practitioner like Jayne who has had years of experience as you'll feel more at ease which will of course enhance your treatment and it's affects.
