YORKTEST FoodSCAN 113 Food Intolerance Test

YORKTEST FoodSCAN 113 Food Intolerance Test

YORKTEST are specialists in food intolerance testing. Their popular and easy to do foodSCAN tests measures specific IgG antibodies to identify foods to which you may be sensitive. Health problems that have been linked to food intolerance include IBS, migraine, eczemea, asthma, lethargy and sinus problems. If you suffer from any of these symptoms and suspect you have a food intolerance, find out more about the YORKTEST and how it could benefit you.

The test: Simply place your order and a blood collection kit is sent out to you. The kit consists of a sterile lancet, with which you take a pin prick sample of blood. You send back the sample in the pre-paid envelope for the qualified and highly skilled lab technicians to test. Your results are then sent back as an easy to understand traffic light system; foods to avoid, foods to eat and foods to rotate. Your results are accompanied by a comprehensive information pack, a 12 week food diary and food guidebook. You also benefit from two consultations with a nutritional therapist.

Case study: Cows milk - the enemy!

Having suffered many of the general food intolerance symptoms myself for many years, I decided to take a test. The results were surprising. I had been led to believe (from a food diary that I kept myself) that I have a wheat intolerance, when infact the results from YORKtest identified that my problem was not wheat, but infact cows milk and yeast.

Coming in with a staggering +4 intolerance to cows milk (on a sliding scale from +1-+4, +4 being the highest intolerance), I instantly felt relieved that my symptoms hadn't been a figment of my imagination. Suprisingly, pork, carrots and tea aswell as yeast were also on the foods to avoid list.

A discussion with a nutrionist explained that cows milk and yeast was indeed a fierce enemy and that if I cut these foods out, I should be OK with carrots, tea etc... Only 13% of results are diagnosed as a +4 which means I need to stay away from cows milk for a good year. The intolerance to yeast would explain why I felt slightly better when elimenating wheat and gluten from my diet, as of course these are the main ingredients in bread.

The results mean I have to think carefully about what I eat and literally read every food label. Sugar feeds yeast, therefore I must cut back on fruit juice and anything sugary as this will increase discomfort. YORKtest provide a 12 week plan so that I can record all foods eaten on a daily basis. I hope to see improvements very soon and will keep you posted!

Overall, YORKtest provided a professional and friendly service. The kit was sent to me immediately and the results were back within 10 days. For more information on this fantastic test call 0800 074 6185 or visit www.yorktest.com.
