The question that most commonly perplexes entrepreneurs is when exactly is the right time to leave their jobs and embrace self-employment. Should they give up work straight away to develop a bright idea? Or should they struggle on for as long as possible building the business in the evenings and at the weekends?
The answer, according to most financial advisers, is to moonlight for as long as possible: keeping money coming in is, clearly, vital. Having a partner prepared to support you is helpful, as are some savings. But until the business starts to generate enough revenue to support you or looks certain to do so in the near future, it is wise not to lose a guaranteed source of income.
