I’m still loving the resurgence of wallpapers, they really add so much to a room, texture, depth, tonal qualities and really allow you to have some fun.

Rajapur Flock design
(c) Cole and Son
I have recently undertaken a fabulous project in Bristol which involved decadent flock wallpaper from Cole and Son. The back ground colour was a dark taupe with a lime green large print flock paisley (see below) – the mix of a traditional print with contemporary colours made this a fantastic choice for a modern home. As the room had high ceilings it could take such a large print but we still only choose one feature wall. If the room had been larger it would have looked spectacular on all 4 walls.

If you aren’t feeling so brave and want to just stick with one wall, you could do either side of the fireplace in a recess which looks striking and isn’t the obvious choice. Stripe wallpapers have made a huge impact this season, I love the way you can hang them in either direction – horizontal or vertical. If you have a narrow room, to hang them horizontally would make the room seem bigger. If your ceilings are low, then hang them vertically to give the allusion of height.
