Kitchen cleaning

Read these top tips to not only take the hassle out of cleaning your kitchen but also to ensure that you get the best results in minimal time.
How to clean your fridge & freezer

How to clean your fridge & freezer

1. Modern fridges have automatic defrost, but still need to be cleaned occasionally. Wipe down all inside surfaces e.g. drawers and shelves with a damp cloth, and dry well with a soft cloth.
2. Clean the outside with a solution of warm water and washing-up liquid. Wipe metal parts with a damp cloth.
3. To remove smells, wipe down walls, shelves and the door seal with a solution of bicarbonate of soda and warm water or use a light disinfectant. Throw out any expired food. A good way to prevent smells returning, is to leave bicarbonate of soda in an open container inside the fridge.
4. Don't forget behind your refrigerator too! Vacuum the coils of your UNPLUGGED refrigerator and make sure that you sweep and mop underneath. You'd be surprised by the amount of dust and dirt that accumulates underneath.
5. BEKO Top Tip: Next time you're replacing your fridge/freezer, take a closer look at the spec sheet. It might sound boring, but it could actually save you valuable cleaning time later on.
How to clean your oven

How to clean your oven

1. Always wear rubber gloves & open a window/door to ventilate the room.
2. Most modern cookers have stay-clean oven linings - it's important that you ever attempt to clean these. If you're unsure if your oven has stay-clean or ordinary oven linings take the time to check your product guide. To clean ordinary enamel linings and oven floors use an oven cleaning product - but make sure that it does not come into contact with the stay-clean lining.
3. Place a bowl of tap water in the oven and heat on a high temperature for approximately 20 minutes, to help loosen dirt and grease. Wipe away any condensation with a paper towel or cloth.
4. Remove cooked on deposits from oven doors with a metal spatula or ceramic hob scraper, then use a spray-on oven cleaner. If the glass door is removable, soak in a solution of biological washing powder. Pop it in the bath if your kitchen sink isn't big enough.
5. BEKO Top Tip: Cleaning your oven doesn't have to be one of the dirtiest jobs in the kitchen. BEKO's DVC665 oven not only comes with easy clean enamel oven liners - meaning you don't need to chip away at burnt food, it also has a removable inner glass door, making it even easier to clean.

How to clean your hob

1. Turn off your hob and make sure the surface is cool before cleaning. Always wear rubber gloves.
2. Some pan supports and spillage wells on gas hobs are dishwasher-safe. If you don't have a dishwasher or are unsure if they're dishwasher-safe, simply use a suitable cream cleaner and a damp cloth.
3. To avoid rusting and maintain colour, apply a hob conditioner after cleaning. Make sure you use a strong cloth as the steel plates have a rough texture which will shred a soft cloth. On re-heating, plates will smoke slightly and might smell - this is normal.
4. To remove burnt-on grease splashes behind your hob, use a solution of sugar soap, available from most DIY stores and supermarkets.
5. BEKO Top Tip: Keep an eye out for Hobs that have a cover. A glass lid means there's less opportunity for spillage and splashes on the hob and back wall.
How to clean your dishwasher

How to clean your dishwasher

1. Start by running your dishwasher on empty. Add vinegar or baking soda to the empty dishwasher before running it.
2. Clean out the food trap in the bottom of the dishwasher. Run water through the inlet of each spray arm to check holes are not blocked by any food debris.
3. Wash down the exterior of the dishwasher with a solution of washing-up liquid and warm water and a soft cloth.
4. If your machine will not be used for some time, leave the door ajar to allow air to circulate.
