What is home staging and what are the main things to keep in mind?
Advice from Liz:
Home staging is normally carried out when you are putting your house on the market to sell or rent or if you have those family relatives that you like to impress. The rules are simple; keep clutter and personal items to a minimum and let the colours of the house lead from one room to the next. For example, if neutral colours like taupe and stone are the main colours in every room then when potential buyers are walking through this will help the flow of the house.
Don't put all your possessions away, it is a home not a empty shell, instead of having ten photographs on show, just choose your favourite four. Keep ornaments to a minimum and perhaps your favourite oversized teddy bear won't be everyone's cup of tea.
Remember you are selling a lifestyle and you want potential buyers to walk in and visualise themselves living there.
