What style wall lights would you advise for a low ceiling cottage for a large lounge?

Wall lights are great for large spaces with low ceilings, Laura Ashley and John Lewis both do a large variety in both a country/French style which might suit a cottage but they do also stock contemporary styles. The first 2 are from John Lewis at £25 and £20 respectively. A more expensive option is Bauhaus Pewter Wall Light from Inspired by Light at £179.
