Troubleshooting Error 404 on the Tiscali webspace

Symptom
When I try to view my site I get to a Tiscali page saying Sorry, the web page you requested cannot be found and with the URL http://www.tiscali.co.uk/services/webspace/404.html.
Solution
The usual cause of this message is a page which has not been uploaded or which does not actually exist. Broken links within WebPages are all too common, so it is worth checking your site with a link checker.
Check too, that all the file names in your site are in lower case.
If you use WS FTP, there is a useful way of protecting you against this sort of error. Open WS FTP, and
- go to Options,
- then Session,
- and check the box named Force Lowercase Remote Names.
Also do not use spaces in your file names either - if you
need to put a space in, use the underscore _ character e.g.
jo_bloggs.
Alternatively, if the file you are trying to view does exist on your site check
that you have uploaded it to the correct directory, i.e. it
is in the relevant folder on your webspace.
