How to read usenet groups in Outlook Express

To download Newsgroups to your PC, you need to set up a news account within Outlook Express.


Open Outlook Express. On the top level navigation bar, click Tools and on the drop down menu which appears, click Accounts. You will then see this screen;

On the right hand side of the screen, click Add and then News. You will then see this screen;

On this screen, enter your name as you would like it to appear if you post to a Usenet Newsgroup. Then click Next to see this screen;

Here enter your email address. Tip - set up a separate Tiscali email address for Usenet postings. NOTE: posting your main email address on newsgroups or forums is a good way to attract spam. Click Next to see this screen;

On this screen enter the tiscali news server news.tiscali.co.uk. For LineOne users this is news.lineone.net. Then click Next to see this screen;

Click Finish. Your settings in Outlook Express will then show the new account you have created.

You will then see this prompt;

Click Yes and a list of available newsgroups will then be downloaded. This will take a few minutes.

When the downloading has finished, you can then subscribe to the groups which interest you. For more help on using Outlook Express. click the Help link on the Outlook Express navigation bar.
