Microsoft have confirmed that a new Internet Security threat called 'the Sasser worm' is currently circulating on the Internet and has infected thousands of PCs in a very short period of time.
The Sasser worm causes infected PCs to constantly shut down making it extremely difficult to browse the internet.
Sasser affects PCs with Microsoft's XP and 2000 operating system software. PCs with older operating systems will not experience the symptoms but are vulnerable to being used as a 'relay' to spread the worm to other PCs.
The good news is that it is easy to protect your PC against Sasser - Microsoft XP contains a free firewall which simply needs turning on to block Sasser and other
similar worms and viruses.
