Activate your Windows XP Firewall

Activate your Windows XP Firewall

While you are using the Internet, you must ensure you are protected from hackers accessing your computer remotely and viruses which can cause costly damage if downloaded. Fortunately, Windows XP has an inbuilt security application, called a firewall, which needs to be activated to protect you against such threats.

  • You can automatically activate your XP firewall by downloading a small file available here.
When you are prompted to download the file click Open.

  • Alternatively you you can manually activate it by following these simple steps:
    1) Click on Start and then Control Panel
    2) In the Control Panel Double Click on your Network Connections
    3) Right click on the Broadband connection and click on Properties
    4) On the connection properties select the Advanced tab along the top and then tick the checkbox to activate the firewall.
    5) In order to deactivate this firewall you can simply uncheck this box.
