HOW TO USE FILTERS TO BLOCK SPAM IN OUTLOOK EXPRESS

Using filters in Outlook Express

>

You can use filters in Outlook Express to block spam, particularly by using keywords likely to be found in the body or subject line of the spam. To do this, open Outlook Express, and click Tools, Message rules and then Mail. as in this screen:

You will then see this screen;
This screen shows you the options available. Let's say that you want to set up a filter to reject all spam with the word Monopoly in the subject line. To do this:
  • Check the box Where the subject line contains specific words.
  • Then, in the panel below where you select an action for your filter, check the box Delete it
Then click the blue underlined text in the third panel Contains specific words. You will then see this box pop up;
Here, type the word or words you want to block - in this case Monopoly, click Add and then OK.
This box will then close to return you to the previous screen where your complete filters will be displayed. Click OK to save.
