Setting up a Tiscali connection from scratch on Windows XP
 
In order to check your dialup settings in Windows XP follow these steps:
 
  1. Click Start then Control Panel then Internet Options. You will then see this screen:

  2. On this screen, click the Connections tab. You will then see this screen.

  3. On this screen, check that the radio button Always dial my default connection has a dot in it. If it does not, then put one there. Then click the Tiscali text next to the Telephone symbol, and click Set Default. If you need to make changes on this screen Click Apply and then Settings. If you have made no changes, just click Settings.
    You will then see this screen:

  4. On this screen check that the box Use a proxy server for this connection is not checked. Check too that your email address is correct.
    Then click Properties to see the next screen.

    On this screen you need to check you are calling the right Tiscali number for your package. These are;
    Anytime 1470,0808 993 3031
    Daytime 1470,0808 993 3151
    Daytime Plus 1470,0808 993 3057
    ISDN** 1470,0845 661 4682
    Offpeak 1470,0808 993 3050
    Pay As You Go 0844 052 9009
    Surftime 1470,0844 040 4102
    50/100 1470,0808 993 3030
    Then click OK to see the next screen.

    **This number is only to be used for Pay as you go Access on an ISDN line, for subscription packages please use the relevant dialup number in this table

  5. Check that the settings are the same as on this screen. Then click Networking to go to this screen.

  6. From this screen, check Settings and make sure that the following boxes are checked. Click OK.

  7. Then make sure the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) box is checked and selected. Then click Properties to see the next screen:

    Make sure that the buttons for Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automaticaly are checked.
    Click OK.
