Troubleshooting Access is denied error message when installing the Alcatel Speedtouch modem
Error: RegDBSetKeyValueEx failed
This problem can occur when trying to install the modem. If you click OK, the hardware setup finishes normally but when installing the device in Windows, the installation cannot complete.

The situation only happens on a Packard Bell computer with the Software Library (EasyDVD) installed.
The Tiscali Broadband software tries to change a registry key that is protected by the Packard Bell Software Library.
To be able to change this particular registry key, the permissions need to be modified. To do this you need to download a patch from Packard Bell support site. Then Download and double click the file to install the patch. After installing the patch, you can install the Tiscali Broadband CD without any problem. If the CD was already installed, run the setup again and choose the Repair / Upgrade option.
