Troubleshooting your broadband connection

Connection Problems & Error codes
 
Look at the lights on the Modem. Before you can connect you will need to see 2 solid green Lights. If both lights are solid green, you can try to connect by
  • Double clicking the Tiscali Broadband icon on your desktop
  • Enter your full Username (including @tiscali.co.uk) and password
  • Click the Dial / Connect Button

From this point you should either Connect Successfully to Tiscali Broadband or receive an error message. Some of the common error messages and their resolutions have been detailed below:

Error message 'Unable to Create Entry'
Error message RegDBSetKeyValueEx failed
Password or username rejected or you cannot connect at all
Connection disconnects from the web if you leave it idle for a while.
PC freezes, you lose connection and need to reboot every 10 minutes, USB lights on your Modem die, PC extremely slow

To tell if you have successfully connected look in the 'System Tray' on your Computer Screen...you should see the following Connection Icon;
Once Connected you should be able to Launch your Web Browser ( Usually this would be Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and view Web Pages.
 

Please Note:If you are still having problems viewing a Web Page but are seeing the Connection Icon (shown above), it is possible that your firewall is preventing the broadband connection from being used correctly. To confirm this, try and temporarily disable the firewall. If you are then able to view web pages, please contact your firewall suppliers for details on how to reconfigure the firewall to work with Broadband.  Do not forget to re-enable your firewall after this test.
