The world is yours, so what are you going to do with it?
The entire globe is at your command and that's just how we like it. Unfortunately, rather than turn whole countries into skate parks and female volleyball courts there's the small matter of an invading alien force that want to turn Earth into a big lump of rock. Fortunately, this being thr realm of RTS games you can decide if you want to play the hostile aliens or the earth defenders. We know which we'd choose.
Universe at War: Earth Assault allows gamers to take charge of several different factions - more of which we'll know more about when we receive our final review copy. But the highlights that really stand out for us centre on the ability to control massive-scale alien war machines that are fully customisable. With on-the-fly tactical skills you can also dynamically swap out weaponry, rework your tech tree, and retrain units in the middle of combat - which means battles can be perpetual, while you change tactics and troop movements!
The battles seem fast-paced and tactical with the emphasis on combat and action. A seamless integration of both the strategic and tactical mode allows you to call in reinforcements from other territories while engaged in ground warfare and take tactical troops back to the strategic level when you win so you can use them in later battles. Whilst all the while engaging in some epic warfare that had us nodding our collective Games2C heads in appreciation of the visual flair on display.
Deformable terrain that will bear the scars of the huge clashes taking place. Deadly sci-fi weapons and alien powers will allow players to destroy whole cities and territories on a global scale. We ask you, what's not to like? Find out more when the game hits the shelves at the end of March.
