68 straight wins earns a Guinness entry plus Tribes of Mexica Xbox 360 screens
Time to wave the flag for UK gamers as Eliot Smith-Walters (UK) A.K.A Shadow Force, has broken into the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition for the longest winning streak on Tekken 6 - by beating 68 consecutive opponents in best-of three matches. A staggering feat that would leave us nursing thumb blisters the size of Jersey.
The successful record attempt took place at the MCM Expo in Docklands Excel Arena. Official Guinness World Records representatives were present to adjudicate the feat, which is now shortlisted for inclusion in next year's Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition.
Eliot's character of choice was newcomer Lars Alexandersson, with Miguel Caballero Rojo, Lee Chaolan, and Sergei Dragunov selected against specific opponents. During the attempt he achieved 25 perfects and lost only 9 rounds, giving him a win:loss ratio of 100:7. Even the current UK champion and winner of Super Vs Battle 2009 Phil 'Dinosaur' Mackenzie was unable to break Eliot's streak on the day.
Tekken 6 the long awaited next-gen instalment in the veteran beat-em'up series is out in the shops this Friday. Be sure to check out our review at the end of the week.
From benchmark beat-em'ups to Tribes of Mexica, a new game from little-known developer Incubator Games an action-puzzle title set in the mythical world of the Aztecs. The game's core mechanics centre on rotating concentric rings to match coloured units, powering up spells, and timing attacks and defensive manoeuvres. An adventure element ties the battles together, allowing players to explore exotic locales while building up a magical arsenal of spells. The release is Xbox Live exclusive and we've yet to hear of an official release date, but if we we're guessing we'd say December.
