Free handhelds for teachers plus GTA IV still sits pretty and Don King Presents: Prizefighter Xbox 360 screens
As if they don't get enough perks with a huge holiday allowance, teachers now qualify for free gaming goodies from Nintendo! The organisers of this years Handheld Learning Conference in October will give teachers that attend a free Nintendo DS systems with a copy of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training.
The conference explores how technologies that are becoming common place in the lives of young people are also being used for powerful learning experiences both in and out of the school.
Graham Brown-Martin, founder of Handheld Learning, said, "Providing teachers with free Nintendo DS Lite's is not intended to be a gimmick, we expect our delegates to use them during the conference and experience an environment that would typically not be allowed in a classroom".
It sounds like a nice incentive to go to a conference if you ask us!
Meanwhile we turn our attention to this week's all-format top 40 videogames charts and would you believe it? GTA IV is still number one, for the fifth consecutive week. Sales may have dropped by 22 per cent but the games buying public still has a long and tempestuous love affair with Rockstar's free roaming crime caper. Race Driver: Grid, the brand new racing title from Codemasters makes a respectable showing in second position with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games taking the bronze medal in third place.
Finally we have some brand new screens from a game we've been looking forward to for ages. Don King Presents: Prizefighter is all set for a June 13 release on Xbox 360 followed by a DS and Wii version later in the year. Will Fight Night Round 3 finally have a contender to its videogame crown? We'll find out soon enough.
