GTA IV: Gamers report bugs

GTA IV: Gamers report bugs
GTA IV: Gamers report bugs

Friday 2nd May 2008 - 17:00

Both Xbox 360 and PS3 version affected, Muse contribute Guitar Hero tracks and Men of War PC screens

To some, GTA IV may well be the best thing since the dawn of creation itself, but to others, it's proving to be a bit of a headache. No we're not talking about the moral minority that oppose the free-roaming crime caper (that happens to have an 18 certificate and is targeted at adult gamers). No we're talking about the unfortunate gamers who have been able to buy a copy of the sell-out game, only to find it riddled with bugs!

Web forums are alive with news of glitches and freezing - on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. A chief culprit seems to be cut scenes, especially centred on the office, freezing and rendering the game unplayable. Some gamers are complaining that they can't play for more than 10 minutes before the game locks up.

By all accounts it only seems to be a tiny minority of the games playing public that have experienced any problems but Rockstar have officially acknowledged the bugs and are apparently working on a downloadable fix.

From bugs to rock and they don't come much more rock-like than Muse. The British 3-piece super group are all set to join forces with Activision and offer a downloadable 3-song expansion pack for Guitar Hero III.

Featuring the rousing hits Exo-Politics and Supermassive Black Hole from the band's critically acclaimed album Black Holes and Revelations, and Stockholm Syndrome from their multi-platinum record Absolution, the Muse track pack will be available for Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360 the PlayStation Store for PS3 on May 8, 2008.

In a week where console games have dominated the charts we thought we'd start the long weekend with a look at some screens from a new PC title. Men of War, the sequel to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II is all set for an early autumn release and will boast 50 new units to play, including newly designed tanks, APCs and heavy guns. Dynamic, in-game video enhances the single player missions. The single player campaign will also feature a fully customisable user interface so players are able to set-up their command layout as they please. Armchair Generals across the land, rejoice!
