Mario Kart Wii storms the charts, Gran Turismo may be heading for PC and Turok PC screens
Mario Kart, the brand new racing title from Nintendo has stormed to the top of the all-format videogames charts. The game has smashed sales records to secure the top spot by becoming the fastest selling Wii title since launch and achieving first week sales of the five other Mario Wii games combined (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario). No mean feat considering the popularity of Wii games! The game that involves everyone's favourite Italian plumber careering around wacky karting tracks has managed to rear end the mighty impressive Gran Turismo 5: Prologue into second place. Another Mario title, Mario and Sonic at The Olympic Games takes the bronze medal on this week's chart podium. Staying on the subject of Gran Turismo, news reaches us that PC owners may finally be able to get a taste of Sony's cutting edge racing title. If they live in China that is. Kazunori Yamauchi, head of Sony's Polyphony Digital (the team behind the game) was keen to dismiss a version on any other console (no love for Xbox fans); but happy to talk up a PC port. "It is very, very improbable that GT will comesout on another consoles. But perhaps it comes to the PC. Particularly for the Chinese market." Yamauchi also revealed in an interview with a German gaming site that the full version of Gran Turismo 5 had been worked on by 150 people for four years and has cost 50 times more to make than the original GT1 on the PlayStation. However, much to the annoyance of petrol heads everywhere, the game still hasn't been given an official release date. While waiting for Sony to decide when it's finally going to get around to releasing Gran Turismo on the PC why not take a peek at the very latest Turok screens. The PC version of the Dinosaur action shooter is set for release at the end of the month.
