Two new sports titles from veteran publisher plus Soul Calibur IV Xbox 360 screens
It has been a busy week for EA. The veteran publisher has decided to announcer not one but two major new sporting titles for 2008. Firstly to what we consider to be the more interesting of the two games - Facebreaker. Fans of the fantastic boxing title Fight Night Round Three should start hitting the heavy bag in preparation. The same team behind what we consider to be the best boxing game ever made are also behind Facebreaker.
The title looks set to offer a slightly more arcade-like take on the boxing genre. In this in-your-face, arcade world full of ego-wielding characters, each boxer comes to life with unique attributes and distinct personal style, including Romeo, a Latin lover known for his pelvic thrusts, and Molotov, an oversized Russian demolitions expert with a penchant for fighting dirty. Add a little personal motivation to your fight by uploading a photo of your face to create a realistic likeness using Photo Game Face, and go toe-to-toe with a real-life friend or foe. There's no release date set yet but we have strong suspicions it'll be out before the start of the summer.
One game with a more definitive release date is Euro 2008, or to give it it's full title: UEFA Euro 2008. The videogame will ship to stores across Europe on 11th April in anticipation of the real-world tournament which begins in June in Austria and Switzerland.
Take on the challenge of leading one of over 50 European national teams to glory as UEFA Euro 2008 recreates all the drama and excitement of the official tournament. A new game mode called Captain Your Country will enable gamers to put themselves on the pitch, earn the captaincy of their team and truly inspire their country to glory. Gamers will also be able to celebrate their success on-field through interactive celebrations that will add to the pageantry and atmosphere of the event. In addition, an online mode call Battle of the Nations will enable gamers around the world to lead their country to global supremacy. Who knows, maybe England could qualify in this version?
Finally feast your eyes on some fresh Soul Calibur IV screens on Xbox 360. The classic beat-'em up from Namco is coming out on both PS3 and Xbox 360 in the summer.
