Launch details revealed for both PS3 and Xbox 360, Wii outsells Xbox 360 in UK and FIFA Street 3 Xbox 360 screens
Grab a pen and circle the date in your calendar - April 29 is the official launch day for GTA IV - or Grand Theft Auto IV to give it its full crime caper name. The most hotly anticipated title since Halo 3 is finally getting ready to see the light of day. Gamers originally expected to be cruising the mean streets of Liberty City last October; but 6 weeks before release a statement was issued to reveal that delays meant it would be the new year before the game would launch. But now both Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will get to grips with Rockstar's first next-gen free roaming title in about 3 months. Start counting the days! "We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "We've pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment." Meanwhile, further milestones have been achieved by Nintendo as recently released sales figures show that the console has leap-frogged Microsoft's Xbox 360 in popularity. The company has sold a whopping 2 million Wiis in the UK - much more than Microsoft's installed base of an estimated 1.6 million. The news is even better for Nintendo's handheld business. The Nintendo DS is absolutely hammering the PSP in terms of numbers sold, claiming a massive 79 per cent market share and total dominance of the market. What will the PSP do to stimulate demand? We smell a price cut in the air. Finally, we round off with an impressive volley of shots from the forthcoming FIFA Street 3 forthcoming on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. The game is all about fancy footwork, FIFA Street 3 features over 250 of the world's best players representing 18 of the top international teams. Decked out in authentic training kits, every player has been rendered into a stylized caricature and boasts his own, distinctive style of play with unique abilities to match. A release is scheduled for the end of Feb.
