Yoda and Darth Vader to appear in Soul Calibur IV!

Thursday 17th January 2008 - 17:00

Star Wars characters coming to classic beat-em'up, Virtua Fighter 5 Xbox 360 update announced and Turok PS3 screens

After much industry related news of late it's nice to get back to the meat of the meal - the games themselves; and they don't come much meatier than the Soul Calibur series of beat-em'ups. The weapon-based fighting game is all set to return this summer - with some extra special guests!

Both Yoda and Darth Vader are all set to make their Soul Calibur debut as publisher Namco has pulled off the licensing swoop of the century by securing the permission to use the two iconic Star Wars characters. But sadly you can forget any ideas of the two sword enemies fighting each other. Sith Lord Darth Vader will appear as a guest character in the PS3 version of the title and Jedi Master Yoda will be available for the Xbox 360. The game is set for a summer release.

Meanwhile from one fighter to another and news of a brand new patch for the bone crackingly good Virtua Fighter 5 game on Xbox 360. The patch is available to download now via the Xbox Live service and includes a whole of new features. Crucially, when someone now joins an online match you can see their connection quality - so no more nasty lag issues interrupting the flow of a killer combo. Replays of online battles can also now be saved - which is ideal if you give a buddy a particularly brutal beating. There's also various fixes for minor bugs, including a texture bug as well as some new costumes for various characters; well worth a download!

Finally, we round off this bulletin with some brand new Turok screens, forthcoming on the PS3. The first person dino shooter is due for release in early February.
