Publisher admits high error rate, Call of Duty 4 takes the top spot and Alone in the Dark Wii screens
It started off as a small trickle but soon became something akin to a raging torrent as reports from PS3 owners suggest that Konami version of the latest Pro Evolution 2008 is beset with bugs and glitches.
Now the publisher itself has admitted that it recognises there are an abnormally large amount of errors in the PS3 build - and is preparing a patch top help solve them. Trade journal MCV reports that the veteran Japanese publishes offers advice to gamers who suffer both stuttering gamplay and in-game freezes. However, with the tips to combat these most annoying of glitches including such general comments as not playing in HD and not fully installing to the hard drive, most gamers will be waiting for the patch to clear up any errors. There's no exact word on when that will be yet though.
Meanwhile this week's chart has another new number one in the form of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The stone cold classic soldier shooter has stormed into first position knocking WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, also a new entry, into second spot. The Simpsons is in third. Last week's number one and the star of our lead story Pro Evolution Soccer slips to fourth position with arch rival FIFA 08 breathing down its collar in fifth spot.
Finally we have some spine chillingly new Wii screens from the forthcoming Alone in the Dark game. The original PC classic is getting the Wii treatment - and not before time! Developed by Hydravision, Alone in the Dark for Wii follows the same story as the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC version, where over the course of one apocalyptic night, hero Edward Carnby must uncover the earth-shattering secret hidden in New York's iconic Central Park. There's no fixed release date for the game yet so feast your eyes on the screens until we hear more!
