Milestone brings relief to games giant, free Overlord download demo and Jackass PS2 screens
It seems like a long time coming but it has been revealed that Sony has sold more than one million PS3s in the PAL territories. Now just so we're clear PAL doesn't just mean Europe it also includes Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. David Reeves, SCEE president, spoke exclusively to trade paper MCV and stressed that the figure is for sell-through to end consumer rather than sell-in to retail outlets. "Early last week we went through the one million mark on PS3. And we did that in nine and a half weeks. That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne. And I think that the analysts out there will also realise that it's faster than our brothers and sisters in the competitive world." Meanwhile we have some great news for anyone looking to have some fun being evil. There's a minion horde ready to come tearing down your download pipe as Codemasters announces the release of the Overlord playable demo. The demo is now available from Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbo 360. The PC demo will follow shortly. In the demo, players don the Overlord's illustrious armour, assemble a team of fighter minions and head off for a session of serious destruction in the once tranquil area of The Mellow Hills. As you descend upon the unsuspecting populace and wildlife that reside in the hills, use your loyal minions to gather life-force from the somewhat unwilling sheep, grow the size of your minion horde, and let the Halflings-gone-bad know there's a new boss in town. We previewed the game a couple of week's ago and can't wait to get our hands on the finished version at the end of the month. Finally we round the week off with some new shots of Jackass the videogame! Now you too can risk life and virtual limb in the company of the likes of Johnny Knoxville, and Bam Bam Margera. A release is scheduled from Empire on the PS2 and PSP at the end of September.
