Towns may well be the most simple locations in netro, but that doesn't mean that they are easy. In fact, if you pick a tough one, you may get slaughtered. That's why it's important to read the Guide to how to pick a location, to make sure you go somewhere sensible!
From here on I'll explain this in two parts, depending on the two different states that the town you have picked could be in - either with free land, or without it.
Free land available:
If there is free land it is amazingly simple - BUY IT!! The "Guide of how to
Build" can probably
be ignored at these inital stages. If there are roadside plots available,
buy them, and build
shops on them. If there are nice country side ones available, build
campsites. If you start to
get low on cash (less than £5000 left), then buy 10 more plots (the
maximum you can have
undeveloped), and build as many hotdog stands on them as you can, when money
permits. You will
notice that you will get a bit more money every 10 minutes. This is what we
call the "Game
Refresh" or a "Netro Month". For more info see the Guide to Netro
Language
So lets say you've bought a few shops, a few campsites, and some more plots that are undeveloped. Whenever you have enough money, build these undeveloped areas as hotdog stands. If you can no longer afford any more hotdog stands then buy some more free plots to build on after the next game refresh when you get some more money. If all the free plots are gone, then start to change the lowest value buildings to shops.
During this time I expect you will be awarded your first level HQ. This is awarded when you have done 50 actions (can be viewed via the HQ). View the Guide to Netro Language if you are unsure of either of these terms. I would recommend that, whilst you don't have to, you build the HQ. Either click on a free plot of land and you will be able to build it there, or "sell to state" one of your worst pieces of land, and place it there. You will allowed to build more new buildings irrespective of whether you build the HQ or not, but you can only get the next level HQ (which gives you even better buildings and bombs) if you have built the 1st one.
If you have not been awarded the HQ then I suggest you check your HQ and see how many actions you need to to to reach 50. If you are fairly short then I recommend that you "level up" which involves changing a building to a market stall, and then changing stock on it enough times to get you the next level HQ.
By whichever of these two methods you have gained the HQ, it does not matter. You will now be able to build burger bars. These are the saviour of all town heroers, and allow you to get impressive profits off a building which is not particularly expensive. I suggest you change as many of your properties to burger bars as is sensible to do. This will put your profit up considerably, and you can sit like a happy bunny and watch the money roll in.
Once you've built as many burger bars as is sensible, I suggest you try and get the next level HQ. Again, you may get this one naturally, but it is less likely, as you're probably not allowing your cash to build up, and you need 150 actions and 45k in order to get the next HQ. If, in order to get the previous HQ, you were changing stock on a market stall, then I would suggest that you just keep going at that time until you have done 150 actions. However, if you gained the previous HQ naturally, then now is the time to try the changing stock on a market stall trick as well. Once you have done the required number of actions you will probably have to sit patiently for a while until your cash reaches 45k. This may be very hard to do, but I would recommend it. However, if there is a ton and a half of free land, then it may not be the most sensible thing to do if you can still be buying good burger bars.
Once you have got the next HQ I suggest you build Renovated Offices in the best places. They are costly, but the best placed ones can earn around 4k if you're lucky! Definately worth building if you ask me. If you've upgraded all the sensible ones to burger bars or renovated offices, then I suggest you upgrade any left over ones to manor restaurants or high street stores.
If you follow all of this you should now have the money rolling in nicely. Sit tight, and it will go up nicely. Feel free to keep buying free land and building on it. If you're generally nice to people, and your company name doesn't offend anyone, then you should hero the town fairly easily.
No free land available:
It is an awful lot harder to hero towns that do not have free land
available. If you fancy a
challenge then go for it, but otherwise I'd recommend staying away from
towns with no free land
until you've got some more experience.
The basis of this type of loction is to cross your fingers and hope! What I would do is to takeover a market stall, change stock on it until I had done 50 actions (so as to get the first HQ), and then change it to a burger bar. I might go and take over other market stalls as well and change those to burger bars too. The idea is that once you're making money you'll be able to get your foot in the door and you'll be ok. You could also try highlighting some of the weakest players and bombing their land and taking it for yourself. Either way could work, but I tend to find that if I bomb people they tend not too like it too much and bomb me back - which isn't the best news if you've only just started in that location.
For either method: If you do hero make sure you write a nice hero speech (e.g. Thanks to The Doc for the fantastic guide on how to hero a town - I couldn't have done it without you!!). Just kidding, but try not to do anything too offensive, or arrogant. I used to read through hero speeches, pick the most arrogant or rude ones, and those people would have the pleasure of my bombing for a period afterwards!
Also remember the hero levels for a town as many new players hero by mistake
in their 1st
town, as they are not aware of these. To hero a town you need to have any of
the following:
5% land, 1mil cash onshore, or 2mil total worth in that location. I'll just
briefly explain
these.
--> You can view the amount of land you have by going to your HQ (on the
left of the normal
screen) -> Profile (under the picture of you HQ that appears). In there it
will show you the %
land that you hold.
--> The cash that you have onshore is the money shown to you in the top
left corner of the
screen during normal play, with the details of you company name and your
location.
--> Your total worth can be viewed from the stats page. It will be in the
column on the
right. The figure shown at the very top of that column is your total worth
in that town.
All the guide written above is for heroing on worth or cash. The plan of
action for heroing on
land, or on worth in my favourite cheeky style is slightly different:
Heroing on land:
This is often the quickest way to hero, and is good if your in a rush to
get to a city.
Forget the idea above of leveling up. When you come in with your 50k, spend it
all buying Hot-dog
stands or market stalls. Basicaly keep building until you run out of money.
Then wait until you
get more, to keep building hot-dog stands or market stalls. Keep going
forever and a day until
you eventually get 5%. About an hour after getting 5% you should hero.
The Quick Way:
With the company that
you want to hero
quickly grab a few plots and build a couple of them as pubs. Now, as quickly
as possible, set
up a new company take it into that place, get it to takeover the pub you've
built, and then
sell it back. Suicide the company you just made, and make a new one. Take
the new one into the
same location that the 1st company is in, and take over the pub again, and
sell it back.
Suicide this company and make a new one...etc. This technique is a great
hero, but is quite
tiring! Anyway, with all the new cash that your company is getting you have
2 options. You can
either hold onto it and go for a 1mil hero. Or you can buiold nice things
with it, that will
boost your total worth, and will get you making some profit, which will boost
your cash even
further. I wouldn't recommend one from the other. At the last reset I heroed
on total worth,
but I'm still not sure if it was the best idea.
Do bear in mind that this is just a guide. If you stick exactly to it you will hopefully do well, but it is in no way guarteed! It's all a case of personal preference as to what works for who. Play around, work out what works for you, and then do that.
Good luck :-)
