Netropolis Players Guide - Location

Netropolis

Guide to Location

Guide to Picking a location:

Towns:
Go for ones with free land. The more free land - the better. If you have a lot of choice of places then my recommendation would be to go to a town with good fire and police security. This will hopefully deter people from bombing your land. Since you got free land ad it will cost them a lot to bomb it, the odds are in your favour. If there are no towns with free land I would advise a town with low security as you might get some bombed land, or you can bomb some props with low chance of a heavy fine.

Cities:
If you see a city with free land get in there quickly, grab the land quickly, level up quickly, build quickly and secure it quickly! Seeing cities with free land is so rare that if you do see it you should count yourself lucky.

Generally cities with good police and fire security and "owned". You can sometimes tell if a place is owned by the Gross National Product of the location. If this is a high figure, generally >£2.6mil, then it may well be owned. If the figure is <£2.6mil then it is probably not owned (or it has recently been bombed). The number of companies in a location can be another clue as to whether it is owned or not. A high number of companies suggests that it is not owned, whilst a low number of companies would imply that it was owned. If you are going to hero solely on cash then it doesn't matter where you choose.

If you hope to take some land, then a low security place will be easier to bomb the land. It should be remembered that it can be bombed o ff you for low cost also - but you will still have plenty of money left. My recommendation, to start with, would be a low security location.

Capitals:
To take land in a capital will be so tough that it will not matter too much whether the security is high or low. The high security locations are more likely to be owned by one person (or group) however, and therefore if you do want to take the land the lower security locations might be advisable. As for cities, you should be able to get a feel of where is properly owned from looking at the GNP. If the GNP is high, then it would suggest that either it is all owned by one person, or the people there are all working together. It will be easier to take land off someone who just has 7% or so land here and there, than someone who has 100% in one place.

If you are going to hero solely on cash then the location you go to does not matter.

Heights:
The height you choose will depend on whether you want the quickest hero or an impressive hero. Olympus and Pompeii have £285mil and £300mil cash heroes respectively, and are advisable if you don't want to stay there forever (although at £3mil a day it will still take a long time)! Having an Atlantis or Valhalla hero looks more impressive though, as most people take the easy option of an Oly/Pomp hero.
