The UK's oldest and biggest gaming industry awards, the Golden Joystick Awards 2007, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. In what is possibly the most exciting year in gaming history, the Golden Joystick Awards will show the world how huge gaming has become.
2006, proved to be the year of the handheld with Nintendo's DS sweeping the board both as a console and with it¹s games. With the three super consoles now available, what will be taking the games world by storm this year? There is the might and muscle of the PS3 and one side of the spectrum, then at the opposite end is the innovation of the Nintendo Wii and sitting somewhere in between is the Xbox 360, which combines power with innovation. It's all the play for.
Voted for solely by gamers, the first round of longlist voting has been going on since 1st July. Every game released between the 31st July 2006 and the 1st August 2007 is eligible for the longlist.
Now the the shortlist has been announced and a second round of voting begins. On October 15th voting closes and on October 26th at the Hilton, Park Lane, the winners of the Golden Joystick Awards 2007 will be announced at a glitzy ceremony.
