Default Busy, busy!

A couple of weeks ago I had a letter from a Building Society saying that if I transfered an ISA to them from another company they would pay me 3% pa int.for a year. They enclosed all the forms to do this. I have another account which is paying only 0.1% so I jumped for joy. Having had experience of these big companies I went along to see them instead of DIY. I saw an "adviser", showed him the letter and handed over the two savings books. He filled all the forms in for me and I just signed them. He said I would be hearing from them soon.
I had a letter yesterday containing all the forms and some extra ones stating that I had filled in the forms incorrectly and it was not clear what I wanted!
I shall have to take another trip to see them to-morrow. It's hard work being retired. Or is that retarded.

The problems we have had with Bg bank (actually told off by security guard for talking) they often don't have money (leva) or euros. Cheques are completely unknown over here. ATM often breaks down or no money in it. I could go on and on. and then there's the language barrier. Grrrrrrr
Cheers

I wonder just what you are going to say to that 'adviser' who supposedly filled in your forms

Just shows why our banking system is in such a shambles, Jackdaw! Take a deep breath, before facing the adviser again, and remember you are not alone in receiving poor, impersonal service from a bank/building society ! (my building society has just sent my renewal for house insurance to my old address. I have been at my new address for a year and the policy is for the new address!) -Good luck! and p.s. you are not retarded

I shall go to see them to-morrow on my way to the Tuesday Club. I may need a pint or two then. I don't blame the adviser at all. It is the fault of management for their recruiting policy. They should employ only someone who knows how to do the job or someone who can be trained. All staff should be trained before they are let loose on the public otherwise it is not fair on staff or customer. I suppose it is a way to save money so that the execs can get nice big bonuses. If I get the same adviser I shall be very gentle with him. I'll probably blame the "back-room" staff so he can save face. I genuinely feel sorry for the chap. If this sort of thing happens often he must dread going into work; and that is terrible.

That's a good point JD and one I picked up on numerous times while a shop steward. You can't blame the worker for not having received correct and proper training ... but you can blame the managers
Go get em

I saw the same adviser yesterday and approached the task as I said I would. He said that there was a high turnover in the staff who performed the "backroom tasks" so they did not waste money training them! Maybe if they were trained properly they would stay longer. The chiefs of this industry seem to have no logic in their policies. Anyway he filled in the forms again and sent sent them off. He said he would make a few 'phone calls to ensure that all went through smoothly this time.
Oooops, I've just remembered that he didn't ask me to sign the forms this time. Well I'll just have to wait and see.
