Finally got hold of a copy (from the local library here in Finland).....Fantastic book.



Here's a brief excerpt that might possibly set a few minds on here thinking.....

Funny you should mention Lockheed. Guess what Labour's gone and done now? They've signed an agreement with Lockheed for the undertaking of the 2011 census. Look here:

Thing is Jeremy, and others, is that it's quite easy to see a correlation between neo-liberal economic policy (along with the shock tactics used to deploy it) and some of the major social problems we face today. These problems would have to include illegal and economic migration, mostly due to rising unemployment......sex trafficking, and a seemingly ever widening gulf beyween rich and poor.

I'm well aware that Klein's book is a few years old now....and therefore written before the near global financial meltdown, not to mention America having Obama as president: however since as a result of 'Friedmanism', government has been rendered almost impotent, and has been forced to a worldwide bank bailout with public money, could it be that this 'recession' we are in is just a continuation of the shock tactics?

Brown announced at the London G8 that the 'Washington Consensus' was dead......but I still remain unconvinced.

I see what you are getting at. I have not seen anything that would indicate that this recession wasn't caused by anything other than those with a fanatical belief in a particular ideology wanting to maintain that bubble.
