We've been sent an email from a customer who has been trying to sell his PC online. A nice chap from Nigeria has offered to purchase it for 800euro's.

From Nigeria

I am so Happy been the winning buyer of this lovely item,i am intrested in buying this item for my Son as a gift who is working with the British America tobbaco Nigeria company. I need to get it as a matter of urgency since I have promised to get the item down to him soon.So i will be so Glad if the item can be posted by Post Express for Fast Delivery.I will like to know the condition of the item.I will be
offering you EURO 800.00 for the cost of the item including shipping cost to him via Post Express .Send me your bank detail so that i can make the payment asap.

can you inform me about the delivery address so I have an idea about the shipping costs involved.

The item is in excellent working condition and is still under waranty.

Sorry for the late response,and thanks for your mail,i will like to inform you that payment has been made,and its has been approved by Nochex Bank Plc,all you have to do now is send the item before they can transfer your money to you,they made this policy due to the fact that most sellers get money from buyers and never send item,i hope you understand what am trying to say,they made the policy due
to fake seller am not and i will not say you are a fake seller,just try to understand,all you have to do is send the item and forward the tracking number to them so that they will transfer your money to you soon.

Please make sure you send the item via post Express Internaional......

This type of scam is very commonplace and doesn't always originate from Nigeria. If you're a seller, never send an item until payment has been received first. Although you may feel the transaction is safe, due to the fact that you have the sellers address, it isn't.

If we were to send this PC to Nigeria, we would never receive the money, we would never see the PC again and wouldn't be able to trace the buyer.

If in doubt, contact Scambusters@uk.tiscali.com before entering into any type of dubious online transaction.

Shipping number? What is a shipping number? I posted the PC via first class post at my local post office and don't have a shipping number.

I do have a library card with a number on it, but I'm not sure if that's of any use?
