Squeeze the oil from a piece of orange skin into a tumbler. Add the sugar and bitters and a splash of Woodford Reserve. Add one ice cube and start to stir the drink. When the ice cube has started to melt and the sugar is dissolving, add another ice cube, another splash of Woodford Reserve and continue to stir.
Continue in this manner until all the Woodford is in the drink and the sugar is fully dissolved.
Spray the surface of the drink with the oil from the remaining piece of orange peel and drop it in the drink for garnish. Did you know?
This drink hails from the Pendennis Club in Louisville KY and is the perfect introduction to the finer flavours of the Bourbon.
Hot Old Fashioned - Why not try a twist on the Old Fashioned for a perfect winter warmer?
Take a couple of spoonfuls of brown sugar in a tumbler and add a couple of dashes of Angostura Bitters and a thin piece of orange peel – which is the cornerstone of the Old Fashioned. Finally add 50ml of Woodford reserve and 25ml of hot water and you have an absolutely fantastic winter cocktail.
