What Shilpa did next...?

The racist controversy surrounding Shilpa's victory awarded the actress a wave of publicity, and helped her re-establish her status in the movie industry, starring in films such as Life in Metro, Apne and Hanuman.
Following her win, she met with both the Queen and then Prime Minister Tony Blair and was also the subject of a Sky documentary 'The Real Shilpa Shetty'. She was also on the cover of the first issue of OK! Magazine to be sold in India.
She also modelled at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, and starred in a musical titled Miss Bollywood as well as writing cookery book Soul Curry.
Shipha's blossoming media career hasn't all been a bed of roses though. In 2007 Shetty was kissed on the cheek by Richard Gere during an Indian AIDS awareness event - an act that was considered a moral affront and ended up prompting country-wide protests, burning effigies of Gere and even a warrant for their arrest.
She was last seen hosting Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother in August 2008, where Jade Goody was a housemate - widely seen a PR stunt to reverse the damage to her media brand. However Goody left the Bigg Boss House early in the series after receiving news that she had cervical cancer.
