The 20-year-old from Wigan is a politics student by day and a pro-wrestling announcer by night in the outside world. But upon entering the house, the unsuspecting Justin Timberlake look-alike proved he could gossip with the best of them.
But tee-total, expletive-free Luke was in for a shock when Darnell confronted him and accused him of gossiping and spreading rumours.
"The fakeness! I watch you running round telling messages, back and forth playing both sides of the field all the time," Darnell told the politics student.
"But you're okay because no one's shooting at you. You're so nice and so sweet, you don't swear - you're perfect!"
Luke managed to find a bitching partner in Rebecca - and the pair frequently popped into the Diary Room to dish the dirt on their least favourite housemates, including eternal optimist Kathreya.
And he was ecstatic when he was allowed to celebrate his birthday with his gal pal.
Luke was presented with a surprise party in a French-themed wine cellar, where he partied with Darnell, Dale and Bex.
And the guest of honour was given a special surprise when his mum and dad appeared on a TV screen to wish him a happy 21st.
"Luke, how does it feel to be 21?" Big Brother later asked him. "It feels good!" he replied. "I've had a really good day, and I can legally gamble in America now. And I could drink in America if I wanted.
"But you've given the non-drinker the wine cellar to go to, which is interesting, and I've had a good night with these three - bar Rebecca!"
And as Luke's flirtation with Bex continued, the others were convinced the pair had romantic feelings for one another - a claim the duo repeatedly denied.
But in week five, the skinny student and the busty nurse finally shared a passionate kiss under the covers - and the clinch led to several more steamy snogs in the following days.
Luke was baffled by his feelings for the Coventry lass, as he had previously declared women like Bex "repulsed" him.
He admitted to her, "I've never met someone where my feelings fluctuate as much every day as they do with you."
But after Bex and Mohamed kissed as part of a party game in week seven, he realised he had actually fallen for the Hanson fan.
He told her: "I didn't think I was a jealous person, but that kiss got to me, I swear to God... It felt like I had been punched in the chest. I didn't think I liked you."
"I did know that I liked you, I just didn't think you liked me," she confessed.
But their budding romance was cut short - as Bex was evicted just days later.
And in his beau's absence, Luke became a shadow of his former self - and even co-founded a Lonely Hearts Club with brokenhearted Dale.
"Oh Rebecca, where art thou now?" he pined. "She won't have the time, she'll be busy stripping off for Nuts and Zoo."
Bex admitted after leaving the house that she was desperate to hook up with him - and now she has her chance.
