Ecuador - Agustin Delgado
Agustin Delgado became Ecuador's leading goalscorer in 2002, surpassing Eduardo Hurtado, yet his efforts in the English Premiership were not so successful.
Southampton fans may remember Delgado for his ultimately disappointing foray into English football, but he has enjoyed success elsewhere and is a crucial component of an Ecuador side who have secured their second consecutive World Cup qualification.
Despite costing £3.5million Delgado only played 143 minutes of first-team football for the Saints, and he required two major knee operations while at the club. Nevertheless, he did become the first Ecuadorean to play in the Premiership.
Delgado now plays for Barcelona Sporting Club in Ecuador after spells at Nacional, Pumas and Aucas.
He scored the first goal for Ecuador at a World Cup finals against Mexico in 2002, and was joint top scorer with Argentina frontman Hernan Crespo in the South American qualifying group for that tournament.
