SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Veteran American crooner Andy Williams has postponed a concert tour of Asia because of the spread of a deadly bird flu, a concert promoter says.
Williams, along with a troupe of 20 musicians, singers and dancers, had been scheduled to perform on March 6 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, with other dates in Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan.
But he postponed the tour until July because of an outbreak of avian influenza that has spread to 10 Asian countries and killed at least eight people, said the organiser of the Singapore concert, JP Entertainment.
Health experts say the virus could develop into an epidemic worse than SARS.
"His management thought it best to reschedule because of age and health issues," said a spokeswoman for JP Entertainment.

Williams, 76, also postponed a concert in Hong Kong last year during an outbreak of the flu-like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS, that killed nearly 800 people, most in Asia.
Tickets had not yet gone on sale for the Singapore show but almost 30 percent of the 8,000 available had been pre-booked in a promotion. Hits by Williams, known for sing-along Christmas television specials, include "Moon River".
