THE PRINCE AND ME

Every girls dream is about to come true... This is the charming and charismatic love story of two very different people from two very different backgrounds. The Prince and Me doesn't follow the love at first sight rule, but you will recognise the story as a familiar basis for many rom-coms.

Eddie (Luke Mably) is the future heir to the Danish throne and is rather unprepared for his regal future - he seems more interested in racing cars than sorting out the problems of his country. To escape the attention of the press he decides to enrol anonymously at Wisconsin University, a seat of learning with a reputation for good-looking girls.

Paige Morgan (Julia Stiles) is also a medical student at the university. She aims high academically and focuses solely on her future medical career. Her social life seems rather uneventful until dashing prince Eddie walks into her life.

Eddie slacks and needs academic help from a fellow student (no guesses who!). One day the two meet in medical class and immediately reveal their differences. While Paige focuses intently on her studies, Eddie is a completely different story.

The two find themselves intrigued by one another. Will they have enough passion to ask each other out? Will Eddie seize the throne? And will their families accept their chemistry in and out of the lab?

The film, although well directed and well cast, has a pretty cheesy plot. It's the typical girl-meets-boy tale with the two blowing hot and cold on each other constantly. I found myself wishing that they would sort out the ever changing emotions and set each other straight as it was a rollercoaster ride of confusion.

Overall, however, I thought the film was quite charming. It has its moments of laugh-out-loudness and the idea of the film is, if unrealistic, quite sweet. I know many little girls who dream this fantasy and to see it happen is pretty special - although I must add that the film is more aimed at older girls who have probably grown out of it.
