Pint-sized secret agent Cody hits the big screen again in the sequel to the highly acclaimed Agent Cody Banks, only this time he is deployed across the pond. While at summer camp, a veil for a secret agent training camp, Cody's megalomaniac instructor Diaz (Keith Allen) steals a potentially lethal mind control device and trouble is set loose. The mini agent is sent on a mission to get it back. All he has to do is join the most prestigious music academy in England. Should be a walk in the park right? Only one minor problem...Cody doesn't play an instrument. Good job his clarinet can play itself.
But no agent can handle this job on his own, even with a packet of explosive sweets and a very adult yo-yo. So he is joined in his quest by fellow music student Emily (S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt) to bring back the hazardous device.
A candy-cute film for budding micro-agents, this is a Spy Kids-like movie with all the usual enviable gadgets. Sprinkled with mildly amusing jokes here and there, the laughs are hardly one-a-minute but nevertheless clearly appeal to younger children. Perhaps the most entertaining part of the film is watching the Queen 'get down and boogie'!
Agent Cody Banks 2 is no award winner, but a family film that will be enjoyed by the younger audience. If 'James Bond for juniors' is what you're looking for, this will fit the bill.
