Having been brought up amidst New York's folk revival in the Sixties, Tim Robbins naturally became highly creative and heavily politicised. Having formed LA's long-running avant garde theatre troupe The Actors' Gang, he moved into movies, starring in such hits as Bull Durham, The Player and The Shawshank Redemption while also directing the well-received likes of Bob Roberts and Dead Man Walking.
