For years, in the public mind, Sissy Spacek had two faces: the kind of dumb one she wore as teenage killer Martin Sheen's young accomplice in Badlands, and the freaked-out, blood-spattered one she wore when telekinetically tearing a town down as Carrie. But this big-hearted Texan has played a mighty range of roles, usually in message-movies, and it was her extraordinary ability as a character actress that allowed her to return as an older woman in In The Bedroom and STILL score an Oscar nomination.
