Jeff Goldblum, who is currently walking the boards at The Old Vic in Speed The Plough with Kevin Spacey, was due to present the Best Picture award with his co-star.
He said: "I'm thrilled to be here, it's very important. This is a special awards, a celebration of excellence.
"I'm presenting best picture with Kevin. We're talking about the hard work which goes into [filmmaking] and the dedication."
