We've received an email from an hotelier who has made us aware of a scam that is currently occurring in the Cornwall area.
We've taken over the correspondence from one of the hotels that was targeted and will see how this develops.

I have just concluded payment arrangement with the delegates. They are from Greece but right now, they are in South Africa on a special assignment by the Bishop. However, owing to there authorization, I am going to send you the Credit Card information that will cover the deposit payment for their reservation, and the necessary arrangment for the delegates. This was the concensus reached by the church leaders.
Sequel to this, I was able to make arrangement with a pre-paid car hiring agent who will supply the delegates with cars and personal drivers that would convey them to there different destinations while in UK for the visit.
He has accepted to render this service to the delegates, but does not have credit card charging facility to enable him charge there credit card. Instead, he has adviced that you send him the money through either Moneygram or Western Union Money Transfer. Owing to this development, the delegates have instructed that I send the credit card to you to charge the money and remit the difference to the agent to enable him provide the cars and drivers needed during this period. Furthermore, in order not to share the credit card information with a third party, they have decided that only your hotel would be authorized to handle the credit card information.
So once you receive the credit card, you are required to charge (£5,000) from it. Then deduct the deposit cost of your services (£1,000) and kindly send (£4,000) via Moneygram or Western Union Money to the agent whose personal contacts would be forwarded to you in my next mail. For record purposes, confirm this message and provide me with your;
(1) YOUR FULL NAME
(2) FULL ADDRESS
(3) PHONE NUMBERS for office record.
Note that the balance of your payment will be paid cash upon arrival by the guests.
Please! remember that the integrity of our agency is involved, so this business requires prompt response. I also hope the stay of the delegates would be made comfortable.

I also wish to re-confirm the payment details and would love to know the following before we could proceed further.

I have contacted my bank and they told me the credit cards are okay but because the transaction is high and my limit are not up to 5000pounds that was why it has declined.
They said you should charge 500pounds at a time from the cards and you will complete the charge of 5000pounds. Please do this now and get back to me immediately so that i can get back to my bank with the out come
Finnaly i also contacted the traveling agent and he said the fund should be sent to FRANK DAVID with same address via western union as he is out of the office for an official assigment.

There is good news and there is bad news I'm afraid.
We have managed to transfer 10 lots of £500 from your credit card as requested, a total of £5000, however as you may have read in the news, Cornwall is currently under marshal law, due to aliens landing last night and wiping out a number of pastie-makers. For this reason I cannot leave the hotel, due to the curfew that has been placed on all hoteliers and civil servants.

Slight problem I'm afraid. The police have been round asking questions about the credit card transactions.
I've tried to explain but they've asked for the address you've supplied and I've had to hand it over as they have threatened to beat me with sticks and truncheons! I never realised just how much a taser gun could actually hurt!
