Debt problem

Shes an 47 year old Asian woman, who has 4 children, the oldest being 27 and the youngest being 8 years old, she speaks only basic english (enough to get her a small 7hr a week job at our local school as a child supervisor), and is going to be a grandmother in a months time, also she is planning my marriage in january, and as im the first of my siblings to get married, and her only daughter she is being as extravegent as possible and wants to have the marriage overseas.

But she is in debt so so much. I always told her to get help, but she would just say that if they took her to jail, they took her to jail. I didnt realise how bad it was until i got a phonecall a few days ago from a debt company requesting to speak to her. i explained that she wasnt here and is there anything i could do. The person on the phone explained that she needs to contact them urgently and if she doesnt it may result in legal proceedings taking place, inlcuding court.

I asked to discuss the matter with me, and explained that i could start to pay some bills as im earning. but he said without her authorisation he couldnt. so i asked my mother for the authorisation. and she plainly refused saying it was empty threats. I believe they werent, and cannot imagine my mother even attending court, as well as jail for the fact that she has debts. ive asked my dad, and hes explained to her the urgency of the situation and she said the same to him as well.

I feel as though she is being stressed for money that she does not, a majority of the debts were because of my two older brothers. they would ask her for money to fund there lifestyle, such as holidays, new cars, when they moved out she would buy there shopping. at one point my brother even began stealing her credit card. but there is no point in asking them for help, as one has moved to manchester and is struggling to pay 2mortgages, and the other is to be a father in less than a month.

she wont seek help, the financial help will not speak to me without her authorisation, and im just stuck with thoughts of my mother going to jail.
