The Government has been hit by a raft of gloomy news, with redundancies reaching a record high, jobs and vacancies falling and more people claiming jobseeker's allowance.
The total number of people out of work, including those not eligible for benefit, jumped by 165,000 in the quarter to January to 2.03 million, the worst figure since Labour came to power in 1997.
The TUC warned this week that there is now an average of 10 jobseekers for every vacancy in the UK, rising to 60 for the worst-affected areas in the south east of England.
What can be done to curb the rising number of people facing unemployment? Is the government doing enough to help the unemployed get back into work? Is your job currently under threat? Are you unemployed and currently looking for work? Do you feel let-down by the government or are you optimistic that the job market will recover?

The banks have abused there power over everyone the last 30 years and after trading with our money and having lost they now come to us the tax payer for a bail out. Well if thats the case why not all the people who have lost there jobs or taken a risk in getting bigger house and taken on more debt but now find themselves unable to pay back what they owe lets cancel the debt you owe nothing you dont lose your house your car or anything else.... Yes its the same as what we have done for the banks nothing different ! The only people who do not want these changes are the people in power at the banks and government because they are only in it for power and greed looking after there bank balance. We have been taken for fools for far to long .........lets do something about it for us our children and there children, we can make change !
Driver Education Centres. The on-going training of older drivers and the introduction of training log books, perhaps linked to insurance premium reductions.
The obvious place to re-launch advanced driver schemes and a place for reduction of traffic offences.
Lets improve the standard of our driving. It could be made interesting with films, lectures, seminars and workshops. Also, off-road training centres.
