Truckers protest

Hundreds of lorry drivers are travelling to London, protesting about diesel prices topping 120p a litre. The protesters are demanding an "essential user" duty rebate for HGV drivers.

Convoys of lorries from the M2 in Kent and other areas around the UK have made their way to London. Motorists have been warned to expect major delays.

obviously enough is enough
when bikers have to protest about fuel costs you know it's bad.
Please don't avoid the M62 M60 protest on Thurs 5th June
Bigger backlog of cars = louder message to Gordon Brown. but please be patient and drive safe if your stuck behind us.
I know it's a pain trying to get to work but it's got to be worth it for one day.
Solidarity will defeat this insane Government policy.

I wonder what would happen if all able drivers left their cars at home for one month, the sheer loss of revenue suffered by petrol stations would be amazing, while were at at it everyone keep out of pubs for the same time and watch the prices tumble. The only people this strange government listens to are big business, the EU and America (no wonder were shafted). If we all did what Brown and co asked and used public transport, when it doesn't turn up or breaks down would we be able to sue the government for loss of wages as I'm sure my employer would not accept "sorry the bus was late, or the train failed to turn up". However lets face it the british winge but we still watch whats happening and go down with a whimper. The spirit sadly has left these shores.

there are other sources of energy wind, solar and we must explore the options otherwise we will always be dependant on the oil rich countries of the world. Surely with all the technology we have this can be sustainable and affordable. Wars are expensive and devasting finacially and emotionally. Why do we let it continue: maybe it is mere apathy that stops us killing ourselves totally.

Green taxes are just an easy way of raising funds, if you speak out then you don't care about the planet and everyone thinks your heartless. The government knows this and exploits it. Where does all this green tax money go? on green projects I think not!!!

I agree with the truckers, the price of fuel is flying through the roof. So the excuse is that the price of oil has escalated, does that mean that when the price of oil falls so will the price of fuel? Will it ******. My worry is that if there is a drop in the tax on fuel it will only be stuck on somewhere else for the driver to lump up.
So Gordon Brown says that the car is a luxury and not a necessity. This is typical of anyone who lives in a city where everything is on your doorstep. I live in a small village where there is no shop and only one bus in and one bus out a day so my family needs a car to live, it is a must, not a luxury for us to have a car.

I totally support the truckers, also the cost of fuel to the general public of this country, the goverment of this country is CORRUPT, the public vote to put whichever party into power, only to have that party which gets in, to rip us off with taxes, taxes, then more taxes, its about time this goverment was brought down, to give ordinary working class people like ME a decent living, not a struggle, BROWN CAMERON, AND THE REST OF THEM, are good talkers, very rich, and dont give a toss really.

i must thank the goverment for the wonderful job they do of running the country, and try to strive to bring my children up following the immense motivation and skill shown of leadership that they show.oh im sorry my mistake i was thinking of the aliens from the planet zob.
i hope the tongues of the goverment are not to brown from licking the bums of the american goverment and going to war with who ever bush decides to attack. by the way all these wars come down to one thing. control of OIl, and because of all this the uk and the rest of the world have to suffer.
your pathetic why dont you get your thumb out your backside and grow up. take a pay cut from your 100,000 pounds a year jobs and give some back to the uk people

I agree with all the brave protestors, the Brown,ex Blair government is bleeding the good working people and the pensioners of the U.K. dry. Not just with its phoney fuel taxes but will all its other direct & stealth taxes of all kinds; for example the crushing council tax which honest pensioner have to pay or go to prison, paying taxes to support the biggest con of all time ......'The Blair Wars'. l moved to wales to get away from the madness that has overtaken England,(which means the land of the angles & saxons by the way).
So please would someone explain to me why the cost of my heating oil has well over doubled in the past eighteen months, and it only carrys 5% VAT (Which should be called BCT... Browns Corruption Tax, I mean, what does value added mean..it means just more tax on top of the tax you already payed and less, much less money for you).
Even petrol cannot boast or even come close to such a price hike & who in London even knows about this or even gives a ******, and l don't blame you' how would you know as the media has never even covered this amazing con trick suffered by all those who have to rely on this fuel. Despite all this my heating allowance has been increased by the grand amount of zero. Thanks a bunch Mr Brown/Blair.... the peoples friends & guardians of corruption, corrupt MP's, big business, global companies and the very rich people of all denominations.
This place we all live in is called the United Kingdom, it used to be a great place to live in, but now l cannot afford to live in it!.
So how about you (Mr Brown & you corrupt cronies) stop sticking you nose (and all our wallets) into the world stage, stop pretending we can still afford to be a world power and how about you start looking after us and getting these islands into a place fit for the people who pay your incredable salaries and even more incredable expences.
Sweaties rule......UK.

Petrol and diesel costs in the UK are the highest in Europe. Foreign transport, mainly eastern european, is coming into the UK with their tanks full of diesel bought abroad and are undercutting British operators. They cause far more accidents than british drivers and are rarely prosecuted, Many of their vehicles are overweight damaging the roads and they don't contribute a penny to the British economy. This is just another instance of this gutless government allowing foreigners to trample all over us. If this is what being in Europe means the sooner we are out of it the better.
