Please tell us what you think about the proposed super database. Do you see it as an infringement of your way of life? Are people who object being too paranoid? Does the proposed super database run counter to the principles of freedom that led to the creation of the internet?

My biggest worry is not "should we let them monitor us?". It is "If they have the data, can we trust them to keep it secret?" Even recent history says NO. There is a very good chance it will be left on a train, left on a laptop in an unlocked car, dumped on a rubbish tip, or simply lost in the post!!

If the government is collecting this data, we might as well save trouble and give our data freely to every phisher and scammer who asks.

The way that things are going, is that you wont be able to take a bath without the government (and every law enforcement in the world) poking its head around the door, all in the name of "stopping terrorism". What's happened to privacy? Privacy which is being attacked here, not by terrorists but by our own government!

Most people are outraged with this, yet it is happening in our """Democratic""" country.

Len M - I completely agree with you

dont let them fool you that they are not doing it already!

theyve had a system called the "eshposh" (not sure if thats how you spell it but thats how it sounds) theyve been monitoring us for years, phone calls, emails, txt and they can even listen in through the speaker on your landline or mobile phone, some people may try and brush this off as paranoiya,i call it FACTANOIYA!just check out the spy websites to see what you can buy yourself to spy on others, then tell me if the government had it would they respect our privacy?in a time of so called war?i think not!

Len M says:
Spying on the public and invading their privacy is nothing short of TREASON in my own personal view. This Government (and the Conservatives) should be reminded that they are the property of the people as it us that pay their wages. They are there to OBEY us and not to tell us what to do or spy on us. This is nothing less than corruption. The whole polictical system in this country is out of date and in need of drastic reform. I read recently that in Switzerland they have referundum's before anything new can be imposed and that's what I want here. Parliament is fast becoming the tyranny that was once King Charles 1st. The time has come for a complete change. The people own this country and therefore everything that is paid for out of the public purse and that includes the political system. Policiticians are there to administer this country on our behalf according to our wishes. They are not there to dictate to us which is precisely what they do. It's the same with road pricing, the EU, mass immigration that has led to a massive overpopulation problem in this country. Since when did we ever vote for these things ????

I will not be giving out any information for ID cards or anything like, they can put me in cushy jail first. This Government has proved time and time again that they can't be trusted with anything? Too many organisations know too much about us as it is, and all this information can be readily bought by any organisation with no questions asked!

Nick Frost says:
This database is another way of giving our identity away, identity theft was unknown a few years ago but the rise in this type of crime has been encouraged by the actions of goveernment, banks and other institutions who demand so much information for the most trivial of reasons. Every time information is given it increases the risk, our persnoal information should be PRIVATE and not in the domain of government agencies andcompanies who give this information to criminals through sloppiness and carelessness. We should fight back by refusing to give this information unless absolutely necessary.
