Is Ronaldo really worth £80 million?

Is Ronaldo really worth £80 million?
Cristiano Ronaldo has described his impending world record 80 million pounds move to Real Madrid as "historic" and is looking forward to starting a new stage of his career.

Manchester United announced Thursday they had accepted Real's staggering offer for the 24-year-old, who is currently on holiday in Los Angeles.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson memorably said last season that he would not sell Real Madrid a "virus," making the transfer announcement all the more surprising.

What do you make of the deal? Are you pleased? Will United miss Ronaldo? Is any player worth £80 million? Are you surprised that a football club can spend £80 million on a single player? Should there be a cap on transfer pricing? Do transfer deals of this size have a negative impact on 'the beautiful game'?

What Do You Think?

Is Ronaldo really worth £80 million?

For anyone who spends their time kicking a bag of wind about for a living to be worth more than a £1000.00 let alone 80m just shows how the world has gone completely barking over a stupid game of football.
There is a lot more priorities in this world than to spend that kind of money on some idiot who kicks balls about on a Saturday as they're usually to thick to be doing anything better.

I say yes keep increasing the amounts that football clubs pay for star players. Its just another indication of the greed culture which will eventually end with a number of clubs going to the wall. I will be pleased when this happens perhaps. Sky started the slide when they paid obscene money to secure the exclusive TV rights to games. The ticket money to watch a game is totally over the top. I want to see a number of clubs go under.

Sheer genius on the park and a joy to watch and now he is going. I am devastated. The money is all about male egos I suspect.

Absolutely OBSCENE amount of money, No footballer or WAG or CELEB of any kind is worth that amount of money considering what's going on in the world today.
What are our SOLDIERS worth when they are in Iraq, Afghanistan or wherever they are sent to fight and protect?
These men and women are worth more than footballers and the above mentioned.

Richie says:
Advanced capatilism is upon us, this brings winners and losers, the rich become much richer, the poor much poorer. Big business through mass media are taking advantage of the poor, the poor feel 'relativily deprived' when seeing the rich consuming their identities. As a result this lowers their levels of serotonin, which causes many problems for the 'people' such as depression, agression and compulsive behaviour. However this is 'brilliant' for big business who profit from the sale of anti-depressants, compulsive behaviour such as gambling and excessive shopping. In this way big business 'vacuums' in all the money, leaving the poor poorer whilst they profit from the many ills and downfalls of todays society. The government are hand in hand with big business, and promote this also, they put money before the health of our people. Truly disgusting, hopefully sometime soon we can all come together and stop this corporate takeover of the world.

B. M. says:
As a man who is not into sport of any kind think to pay for a footballer such a large amount of money is ridiculous. After all it is only a job. You don't see a tradesman earning that amount and running up a street doing cart-wheels and thowing their fists in the air shouting "I have finnished the job." come on! grow up management. That money could be put to better use, like makeing this world for people who are living in a poor country and dieing through lack of good food and Clean water. It does not make any sence to me.
